Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to help you take the next step with confidence.

Where does my donation go?

Donations go directly to providing weekend food and support for children in Charlotte County. Because the program is completely volunteer run, your gift stays focused on feeding kids.

Is Back Pack Kidz really volunteer-run?

Yes. Back Pack Kidz is 100% volunteer powered. Neighbors give their time to pack and coordinate weekend food support throughout the school year.

How are children selected?

Children are identified through schools and trusted staff who know which students need weekend food support. This keeps the process private and respectful for every family.

How does food reach students?

Volunteers pack bags each week, and the food is distributed through local schools in a discreet way that protects each child's dignity and privacy.

What food can I donate?

Please donate single-portion, sealed, non-perishable, kid-friendly foods that are easy to open and need no heating or refrigeration — think fruit cups, applesauce, cereal bowls, crackers, and pudding cups. Please avoid peanut butter, nuts, and glass containers. See the food donation guidelines for details.

Can my business, church, or group partner with you?

Absolutely. Businesses, churches, civic groups, and schools can host food drives, sponsor children, or become community partners. Visit Our Partners or contact us to start the conversation.

Can I donate in honor or memory of someone?

Yes. The donation form includes an option to give in honor or memory of someone special, with a personal message if you'd like.

How do I volunteer?

Head to the Get Involved page and share your interest. No experience is needed — packing days are friendly and easy to learn.

Can someone speak at our organization?

Yes. We're happy to send a representative to share the Back Pack Kidz story with churches, businesses, schools, and community groups. Request a speaker on the Get Involved page.
